5th Ji.hlava International
Documentary FIlm Festival

October 26 – 29, 2001

The fifth edition of the festival introduced the symbol of a funnel; a playful metaphor symbolizing unusual forms of perceiving the world. The festival also got its motto “Thinking through film!” and hosted American experimenter Jay Rosenblatt. The Pitching Forum, a meeting of East European filmmakers and West European producers aiming to finance interesting film projects in the region, was held for the first time in Jihlava and the whole region of Central Europe. Screenings were held at four screening halls for the first time and the award for the best Czech documentary film as well as the Audience Award went to Martin Mareček for Dust Games. Andrea Slováková joined the festival team.
