synopsis

Ruth and Arne got married young. Dozens of years have passed; Ruth is dying and Arne must say good-bye to the woman of his life. In long shots of imperceptible movements, this sensitive film captures expressions of love and an anticipated nevertheless sudden sense of loss. For the old man, the final hours spent with his wife mean preparing his house, bed, and mind for the fact that one day their shared story will end, and what once was will be quietly lost from sight.
