Intimate Distance examines the topic of modern communication via Skype. Highlights of real, intimate conversations recorded over a period of several months by webcams give us a glimpse into three forms of international family relationships in digitally mediated closeness.

biography

Steffen Köhn (1980) studied at social anthropology, film studies and directing in Mainz and Berlin. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Anthropology and African Studies, concentrating on the theory and practice of ethnographic films, media anthropology, transnationalism and post-colonialism as mirrored in his documentaries After Hours, A Tale of Two Islands, Tell me when..., and Morokapel’s Feast.
