A small association in Iceland called MÍR was founded in 1950 to strengthen the cultural relation between Iceland and the Soviet Union. Three decades after the fall of the Iron Curtain the association keeps the revolution alive with weekly Soviet film screenings. But is it all just nostalgia or do they have a legacy to preserve? biography
Haukur Hallsson (b. 1989) is a filmmaker from Iceland. He premiered his short documentary portrait of the renowned Czech filmmaker Karel Vachek at Ji.hlava IDFF in 2016 called What Is Behind the Canvas? and the short documentary MÍR: Hundred Years of Revolution in Rotterdam's IFFR in 2021. Haukur is a directing student at FAMU in Prague.more about film
