synopsis

Market is a time-lapse film capturing a busy market square in Łódź shot in 1970. The short film consists of photographs taken every five minutes over a nine-hour period and by doing so projects the busy market as a constant stream of movement and business.

biography

Josef Robakowski is a Polish artist and filmmaker. In the 1960s, Robakowski founded many Polish artistic collectives, including Oko and Zero-61. In addition to making his art, including film, drawings and photographic series, Robakowkski teaches at the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and at the National Film School in Łódź.
