Petr Nikl

Long ago, he combined the worlds of visual artist, musician, puppeteer, inventor, poet, and performer in his work. We never know what masks and inventions he will bring to life on the spot. Despite everything, Petr Nikl is first and foremost a visual artist who has long been highly regarded. Perhaps that is why he does not have a strong ambition to have successful recordings as a musician: his music is released in limited editions, hidden in books and at his own expense, and his discography is somewhat secret. Yet Nikl has over ten studio albums to his credit and is the author of a remarkable body of songwriting. When he performs live with a combination of instruments, toys, and various small inventions, it is captivating. This is also because playfulness is applied to songs with deep, existential themes.
