Best Report of 2025

The Respekt Award for the most outstanding audiovisual report was presented to reporters Barbora Loudová and Jevhenija Vachničenko for their investigative piece Černá práce.

“We decided to recognise the programme both for its choice of subject and for the journalistic treatment of the topic, as well as the dedication of the authors. They have been investigating so-called ‘agency employment’ over a long period, thereby producing a comprehensive report on an opaque environment that is difficult to penetrate. The authors’ exemplary work has thus once again highlighted the fact that the exploitation of people in our country is by no means an exception, but is, unfortunately, almost the norm in certain parts of the labour market. The social impact and ‘bullseye’ are also demonstrated by the fact that, following the broadcast of the three-part report, some agencies changed their registered offices or went out of business, and some companies terminated their cooperation with these intermediaries. Similarly, the report sparked a debate among experts, which could contribute to better oversight and protection of employees,” stated the jury, comprising editors from the weekly magazine Respekt.
