synopsis

Mountain climber Radek Jaroš is determined to conquer K2, the last 8,000m mountain he needs to climb to complete the Crown of the Himalaya. In addition to scenes from the expedition, the film includes scenes of Jaroš’ everyday life. Memories and feelings of those close to Radek flesh out a portrait of a person determined to undergo a variety of sacrifices, and reflect on the impact of his passion on interpersonal relationships.

biography

David Čálek (1971) studied cinematography and documentary filmmaking at FAMU. As a cinematographer, he worked on fictional and documentary films, such as Searching for Ester (2005), Mamas & Papas (2010), and Plan (2014). As a director he made Heaven, Hell (2010) and Pirate Network (2014).
