What If We Run Out of Stones?

synopsis

At first glance, what could be more inanimate – and therefore anti-cinematic – than the mineral kingdom? Nora Štrbová challenges this declaration, turning it on its head and making stones into a highly kinetic subject. In this humorous essay film shot in 35 mm, stones are finally given a voice as they observe us, judge us and, above all… put up with us.

biography

Nora Štrbová (1994) is an artist and filmmaker, born in Bratislava. She studied animation at FAMU, where she is currently studying documentary film directing. Her film S P A C E S (Ji.hlava IDFF 2020) was screened at Visions du Réel and IDFA and was nominated for the Czech Film Critics Award. Her music video Distress premiered in Annecy. Her other films screened at Ji.hlava were Let's All Come Back to Earth (Ji.hlava IDFF 2020), That One Time Shaman Sasha Decided to Eradicate the Demon from Putin (Ji.hlava IDFF 2020) and Currents (Ji.hlava IDFF 2021).
