synopsis

They’re like a classical music concert on a beach in Bibione. A talk show on the road and a concert by a band you either love or don’t get at all. Bert & Friends is Albert Romanutti’s psychedelic pop project, blending absurd humour with a distinctive visual style. Their musical universes sit somewhere between retro aesthetics and futurism. Mardoša joins the band in a van to explore where their ideas come from. How did Romanutti give himself permission to stop following all the rules about how pop music should be made? Finally, the van delivers the band to the venue, and a breathtaking performance can begin.

biography

He graduated from the Miroslav Ondříček Film Academy in Písek and studied Multimedia Design at the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of West Bohemia. In 1997, he co-founded the band 100°C with friends in Mariánské Lázně. The band was nominated for an Anděl Award in 2004 and won both Breakthrough Act of the Year in the Žebřík music poll and Radio Expres’s Golden Ear Award in 2005. With 100°C, he released four albums through Sony Music, the independent label Indies Scope and Supraphon’s online platform. In 2001, he founded the production company ManaWorld.eu, which moved from West Bohemia to Prague seven years later and began producing commercials and brand videos for companies including O2, Puma, Sony, Canon, Samsung and Vodafone. His music video for 100°C’s “Cream” won the Óčko Award for Best Music Video of 2008, while his video for Support Lesbiens’ “K.I.D.” won Best Music Video at the 2017 Žebřík Awards. He has also directed music videos for artists including Tata Bojs, Lake Malawi, Mirai, Tonya Graves and Rytmus. Since 2013, he has performed alongside his 100°C bandmate DJ Atwork as the duo ManaWorld DJs.
