synopsis
A travelogue composed of Portuguese archival materials. A sailing voyage, a visit to a textile manufacturing plant, fun by the seashore, a wedding, and a safari. A look back into the past reveals the ever-present longing for faraway adventures. The image of a zebra fleeing from the hungry eyes of tourists sitting in a jeep becomes the film’s key image.
“The archive is a port of call, a place where goods are loaded and unloaded and held until a dockworker carries them off. As a film researcher and editor, I find myself seeking out hidden or elusive film material.” Bill Morrison
