synopsis

Christiana Perschon shot her meeting with the artist Linda Christanell, a representative of Austria’s feminist avant-garde of the 1970s, on double 8mm fi lm without cutting. When shown, the fi lm’s split image shows footage of the two women fi lming one another to create a dialogue on seeing and being seen.

biography

Austrian filmmaker Christiana Perschon (1978) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Her films and video installations explore aging, the past and the transient nature of memories. She repeatedly makes use of found footage and collage. Pershon spent two years collecting interviews with the aim of preserving people’s life stories for a Vienna mediatheque, and used some of this footage in her later fi lms.
