Flowers for the butcher
director: Adam Ruszkowski
original title: Flowers for the Butcher
year: 2011
running time: 19 min.
synopsis
A post-apocalyptic look at a Chinese city, with the audio track consisting of just the blowing of the wind. Raw images of people living in the ruins of houses surrounded by trash and the skins of dead animals. The stylised camerawork films the colour spectrum of dirty everyday routines unlike our own. All that is left is the return to traditional rituals, when even the persistent rain won’t wash away the cataclysm of a destroyed city afflicted by human civilization.
