synopsis

As essayistic meditation on mass movements of people since the Second World War, including today’s mass flight from war, the possibility of death and environmental catastrophe. Images of the natural elements and scenes taken from the films of, among others, Humphrey Jennings or Derek Jarman explore the relationship between the representation of movements and ideas.

biography

British artist Sarah Wood (1967) works with found footage, in particular documentary material. She explores the relationship between history and individual memory, or the signifi - cance of archival institutions. The Ji.hlava IDFF previously showed her fi lms Murmuration x 10 (2015), I Am a Spy (2014) and For Cultural Purposes Only (2009).
