Our Hands Are Empty
SJ. Ramir / Australia, New Zealand / 2014 / World Premiere / 9 min.
synopsis
A silent stroll through a dark landscape in which our gaze loosely follows the contours of hills, meadows and clouds in order to focus on several specific objects, although their blurred margins cause them to blend into the background. The distinctive graininess rewrites the landscape into a noticeably melancholy object-ness.DETAIL:
The repeated emphasis of the horizon, beyond which there are only further horizons, reminds us of the process of searching, of relying on familiar objects, memories and beings, when even not-finding is an ongoing need.
