No Home Movie
Chantal Akerman / Belgium / 2015 / Czech Premiere / 112 min.
synopsis
Chantal Akerman dedicated this film to her mother, who after her liberation from Auschwitz shut herself up in her home. Akerman accentuates her hyperrealist style through the use of digital technology (cheap DV camera, smartphone), thus capturing not only the closeness of home but also the distance between her mother’s life and modern nomadic existence.biography
Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman (1950-2015) was a central figure of European art cinema. Her work combines experimental approaches with a feminist viewpoint, as in her best-known film Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975). The Jihlava IDFF has previously shown her documentary Over There (2006), which is set in Israel.more about film
