Broken Windows

Daniel Pitin / Czech Republic / 2018 / World Premiere / 6 min.

synopsis

This audiovisual collage places shots from Hitchcock’s Rear Window into paper set decoration, expanding the original movie’s ideas in a playful and provocative mode. As viewers, we must get through to the characters within a maze of colourful layers and alien objects that visualize the process of medialization and point out the framework limiting our view.

biography

Daniel Pitín (1977) graduated from Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts. His multi-layered paintings refer to classic and avantgarde painting alike. He describes his works as fragments of narratives that serve the goal of searching through the spaces of personal and collective memory. He often uses collage and video footage taken from various sources.
