synopsis

Croatian documentary filmmaker Pavo Marinković sought out one of his country’s best-known directors, Lordan Zafranović, in his current voluntary exile in Prague, and filmed an empathetic portrait that looks primarily at the political controversy evoked by Zafranović’s film Occupation in 26 Pictures.

The 27th picture that Marinković has added to Zafranović’s brutal portrait of Nazism testifies to the subtler and less visible violence born of the occupation that the Zafranović experienced personally during the 1960s and ’70s.
