Just Ancient Loops
Bill Morrison / United States / 2012 / Czech Premiere / 25 min.
synopsis
The filmmaker develops his archaeology of film in this miniature based on archival materials from the early days of cinema showing human figures from a century ago. Through the focused study of the film’s damaged and disintegrating parts, he emphasizes the traces of time and aging, as well as the limits of cinematic memory.
The frames of nitrate film were scanned at high resolution and digitally processed.
