The Water's Tale

Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri, Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri / Italy / 2021 / European Premiere / 6 min.

synopsis

In 1998, the director’s mother came to the Tiber River, waited until dawn, and then the water took her forever. The suggestive memory carries the audience through a tranquil voyage, allowing them to observe the riverbank during the day, at night and at dawn, with the mother’s face at the centre of the passing image throughout.

biography

The work of the Italian author Virginia Eleuteri Serpieri originates from the concept of observation and memories, dealing primarily with social topics. Sound in the form of music, sound effects and commentaries form an integral part of her films, while jump-cut editing and collage are their frequently reappearing themes.
