How do you capture an artist whose work transcends the scale of galleries, landscapes and even the planet? This distinctive documentary portrait of internationally acclaimed Czech artist Magdalena Jetelová traces her journey from monumental wooden sculptures and smoke performances to laser drawings and a dialogue with the Moon. It reveals the remarkable personality of an artist for whom boundaries are simply an invitation to go beyond them. For decades, she has transformed spaces, challenged certainties and sought new ways of perceiving the world. The film is also a personal reflection on freedom, emigration, home and an enduring need to create and explore the unknown.

biography

Jakub Kučera holds a bachelor’s degree in fiction film directing from FAMU. His documentary work focuses on visual art. He regularly collaborates with ČT art and iVysílání on projects such as Artoulky and Vrstvy města, as well as with the platform Artyčok TV. For the short documentary series Genius Loci, he directed profiles of artists Stanislav Kolíbal and Milan Knížák. His work for Artyčok TV includes portraits of artist Veronika Bromová and painter Jan Uličný, as well as Dopis Škole, made with artist Eva Koťátková. In 2026, he completed his feature debut, Podoby milostného vztahu ke světu, which premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. His television documentary Magdalena Jetelová’s Signals continues his longstanding exploration of contemporary visual art.
