synopsis
Annie dreams about her friends from the orphanage. The unsettling, almost horrifying atmosphere of the fertile imagination of an orphan girl, in which naughty children must watch out for goblins, is evoked by footage from a decaying copy of the film of the same name from 1918, accompanied by the crackling sound recording of the eponymous poem by James W. Riley.
“To the dream-child, lonely in her strange surroundings, come old friends from Slumberland”. Colin Campbell
