Rice Harvest

Rice Harvest

Gabriel Veyre / France / 1899 / 1 min.

synopsis

Several women harvest rice as their repetitive movements create a natural visual rhythm. Veyre captures everyday work in the Japanese countryside, while composing the scene almost like a tableau vivant. The film combines documentary observation with the visual sensibility of early cinema.

biography
