If Adolf Hitler Lived There Would Be No Rights for Gypsies
Apolena Rychlíková, Martina Malinová / Czech Republic / 2014 / World Premiere / 27 min.
synopsis
Filmed in colour, decidedly conceived in black and white, this observational documentary about the reality of a day with a group of gypsy quintuplets reveals the painful topic of Czech racism. The endless task of caring for the children, captured on camera, is accompanied by scornful comments and financial calculations by the ethnic majority that only expose their own weaknesses.
DETAIL:
The first quintuplets in the Czech Republic: “brownies, five little monkeys, the untouchable five, a prosperous farm, potential lazybones, 5 gypsies = 5 crimes, little rats, black pigs, freeloaders, brats…” Life’s great, isn’t it?
