synopsis
Set against the backdrop of a Sunday dance for the elderly, we hear the confession of an unnamed elderly man. His recollections, which span his entire life, contain many interesting moments. The tragic moments of his life, his current financial hardship, or his health problems fail to trouble the man as much as the latest decision made by the authorities. The film belongs to a number of pessimistic works produced at FAMU in the late 1960s.
biography
Andrzej Zajączkowski (1936–2023) held a degree from FAMU in documentary filmmaking with the help of his lecturers on an accelerated study track despite being under investigation in Poland for distributing exile-produced literature. He worked as a documentary filmmaker, and after martial law was imposed in Poland in 1982, he was dismissed from his post and went on to collaborate with the dissident movement. In the 1990s, he worked in various professions, notably as director of the Polish Institute in Prague.
