Ji.hlava New Visions Award 2025 for the most promising European project in cooperation with UPP and Soundsquare

  • The visual effects and post-production house UPP will provide an in-kind grant for visual post-production modelled to the needs of the award-winning film in the estimated value of 15,000 EUR (1 day online, 4 days grading, DCP Cinema Master, TV Master).
  • The sound studio and post-production company Soundsquare will offer sound mixing and a final sound master in the estimated value of 5,000 EUR.
  • Eligible for European projects

Ji.hlava New Visions Award 2025 for the most promising U.S. project in partnership with AmDocs

  • The project will receive 7.000 USD as a cash award granted in cooperation with American Documentary And Animation Film Festival (AmDocs)

Cannes Docs - Marché du Film Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Two complimentary Marché du Film badges & selection as a Cannes Docs 2026 'Spotlighted Project'
  • Eligible for European, Asian and U.S. projects

The award goes to the main producer of the project, and the training can be joined in 2026 or in 2027, with the same project or with another creative documentary project. The award also entails full Eurodoc membership for 12 months over the year of the attended training.

DAE Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Free memberships for two members of the project team for one year and a tailor-made consultancy session with DAE senior consultants.
  • Eligible for European, Asian and U.S. projects

#Docs Connect Taskovski training award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Mentorship and consultancy on the festival, marketing and distribution strategy for the winning project
  • Eligible for both European and U.S. projects

Sheffield DocFest Networking Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Two Industry Passes for Sheffield DocFest 2026
  • Eligible for European, Asian and U.S. projects

Lightdox award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Strategic guidance on the European and non-US industry landscape, encompassing project positioning, festival trajectory, distribution pathways, and impact strategy for the awarded project.
  • Eligible for U.S. projects

Docs by the Sea Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • The winning project will be invited to participate in Docs by the Sea 2026, with accommodation provided for the whole event.
  • Eligible for Asian projects

Meditalents Residency Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • Residency for the winning project includes direct selection to Meditalents’ LabDoc 2026 (Marseille, March–November), with full residency coverage (registration fees excluded).
  • Eligible for projects from the Mediterranean region.

Jacob Burns Film Center Award at Ji.hlava New Visions Forum 2025

  • The Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) will provide a creative residency for the winning project. Residencies span 2–4 weeks and can be utilized at various stages of the creative process. Artists in Residence receive housing in a private three-bedroom house on the JBFC campus; a private editing suite with tailored tech support from JBFC staff; a weekly stipend of $500 for up to two team members; access to specialized production spaces at the Media Arts Lab (including a 50-seat screening room, sound stage, recording studio, editing suites, and stop-motion animation lab); travel coverage and logistics support from program staff; access to programs at the 5-screen Jacob Burns Film Center cinema; and an open invitation to present finished or in-process work in collaboration with JBFC curators.

STATEMENT: For this award, we were immediately struck by the unique essaysitic approach to this deeply specific yet universal exploration of the way we can be divided. Understanding the way barriers are constructed can begin a process in understanding how they canbe dismantled. The Jury is honored to present the New Visions Award for most promising US Project to FENCED.

JURY STATEMENT: We found this film to be brave, sincere, incredibly creative, and boldly experimental. It interrogates our paths in the world, the different paths inside one family, and the ways to exist beyond the ongoing pain of addiction. With this award, we want to reinforce Pepa's commitment to share this difficult story. This film will be an alchemical process, and it will need some excellent post-production support to hone its potential and vision.

DECISION: Valley of the Night (5,000 USD)
STATEMENT: This is a stunning dive into a dystopian present, and we commend the filmmaker for her incredibly cinematic approach on such a relevant and pressing issue of these times. Introducing us to temporal migration with such poetic photography promises a very singular and fascinating film.

DECISION: Vestibule (2,000 USD)
STATEMENT: This is a bold and uncompromising film that will create a new conversation around the agency we have with our bodies, sex, and pleasure. We want this award to encourage this filmmaker as she begins this filmic journey that will break taboos and empower many girls, women, and all the humans that need support in building a good relationship with their bodies.
