synopsis

Tech companies like Uber, Amazon and Deliveroo attract workers with flexible working hours and freedom. But in actuality, employees are under constant surveillance, risk their lives and have no free moments or even any guarantee that they will be paid. Today, millions of people live in a state of insecurity when it comes to work, income and housing because they are subject to the rules of transnational corporations. From China to France, from Nigeria to the United States and Britain. Their backgrounds may differ, but the price they pay in an attempt to stay afloat in the system is equally high. For the companies, they are invisible and replaceable, but this complicated and dynamic analysis puts them front and centre.

"I hope that when people watch it, they have more of a sense of connection to the fact that this is an important part of the economy and the society in which we live now." (Shannon Walsh)
