synopsis

Working with a selection of stories from Polish author Mariusz Szczygieł’s best-selling Gottland, six young filmmakers will create a documentary miniseries and feature-length documentary film. The common denominator is an attempt at describing contemporary Czech views of heroism as seen in the light of major and minor historical events of the 20th century. The filmmakers take diverse stylistic approaches to exploring the stories of famous and unknown individuals, leading the viewer on a tour of the past century in an attempt at
finding out who are our heroes and why.
