According to the Edison Society catalogue, this film captures the master inventor at work in his chemical laboratory. The scene was actually shot on location at Edison's Black Maria film studio, the world's first film studio.
biography
James H. White (1872–1944) was a Canadian director, producer, and cameraman. Originally a travelling phonograph and kinetoscope salesman, he later became a key film producer at the Edison Company. He made over 500 short films.
