synopsis
Experimental animation uses the letters of the alphabet in an associative sequence of 26 images. Every letter represents a different topic, the crucial ones being those related to socio-political issues. Apart from a demonic “e”, referring to “evil”, the most interesting letter is “q”, posing a question why the Philippines remains poor when it abounds in natural resources.
biography
A Filipino painter and animator Roxlee (* 1950, civil name Roque Federizon Lee) has been making films since 1983. He is one of the most significant representatives of the Philippine film underground and is considered a pioneer of film animation. He combines classic animation, found footage and live action. Thematically he focuses on the environment and human rights.more about film
