Artstar
synopsis
In a performative intervention on the Czech Television show Artóza, Ondřej Brody drew attention to the problematic nature of art evaluation—and this was more than a decade before the art community began to address this topic in connection with the awarding of prizes. Brody was invited to the show by one of the jurors, Michal Pěchouček, who—along with the other jurors, historian and curator Vlasta Čiháková Noshiro and performer Jiří Surůvka—was confronted by a quite immediate physical manifestation instead of an attempt at self-presentation.biography
Over the course of his studies in Michael Bielický’s New Media Studio, Ondřej Brody’s interest in the medium of video ranged from performance to attempts at approximating feature films. Even during his studies, his work was influenced by collaborations with other high profile artists such as Mark Ther and Kristofer Paetau. In his performances and narrative videos, in which he played with the genre of detective stories or attempted to adopt elements of pornography, he always sought to confront the audience with the transgression of social taboos.more about film
