running time: 23 min.
Utquiagvik is the northernmost city in Alaska, located 555 km beyond the Arctic Circle. This meditative documentary follows its young Inuit inhabitants, who explore the desolate snowy landscape under the midnight sun and transform their home into a vast playground full of melting glaciers and abandoned ships.
Maxence Vassilyevitch studied visual arts and film at the Sorbonne and completed a master’s degree at the London Film School. He has made several short films, including the acclaimed Je suis present (2015) and Saranac Lake (2018). In 2018, he joined the Ateliers Medicis studio, where he mentored three film projects. He is currently finishing his medium-length film Planet X.
