Pyramidy: celkový pohled
Alexandre Promio / France / 1897 / 1 min.
synopsis
A caravan of camels passes in front of the Sphinx and the pyramids of Giza. Promio combines a monumental landscape that has been depicted for centuries with the immediate movement of people and animals. Through film, the ancient monuments cease to appear as a static backdrop and become part of the present moment.biography
Alexandre Promio (1868–1926) was one of the Lumière company’s foremost cinematographers. From 1896 onwards, he travelled with the Cinématographe across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. His films expanded early cinema’s horizons through travelogue perspectives, bustling urban scenes and a camera moving through space.film details
