synopsis

Long term observation of masturbation. Sackl, who uses extreme methods to explore ways of depicting the human body, used a time-lapse camera to record himself masturbating once every ten years, compiling the individual frames and films into a radical ascetic film showing aging and physical transformation.

biography

Albert Sackl (1977), one of Austria’s most controversial contemporary filmmakers, studied philosophy and art history at the University of Vienna and visual art in Frankfurt under Peter Kubelka. A repeated motif in his work his the depiction of his own naked body. In 2008, the Ji.hlava IDFF showed his previous film in this series 2008 Stiffness I+II.
