ČRo Wave: Hotspot - Barbora Součková a Sarah Abulkasim

Why is politics these days so cringeworthy? When politicians dance on TikTok or pick up on internet memes, things don’t always turn out the way they’d like. The effort to come across as down-to-earth and to understand social media humor often veers into awkwardness. But even that can lead to going viral,  attention, and ultimately political points. Yet while viral content racks up views, society’s real problems fade into the background. Why do TikTok trends often trump substantive communication? How is political authority formed in the digital environment? And do we even care anymore about specific stances, platforms, and political goals? Hosts Sarah Abulkasim and Barbora Součková will discuss these topics with political reporter Eva Soukeníková and media theorist Jan Zápotocký during a live recording of Hotspot.
