Us and the Kids: Why We’re Losing Contact and How We Can Regain It?
More and more parents feel like they’re losing touch with their children. They don’t understand their world, and often have no idea what they’re going through. Often, they only find out when something unexpected and shocking happens to them. According to recent research, 40% of ninth graders show signs of depression and 30% suffer from anxiety. Children are no different than they used to be, but they’re growing up in a world overwhelmed by fast pace, screens, and pressure to perform. This makes their need for dialogue with others all the greater. What are they missing in terms of their communication with adults, what is hurting them, and what do they want? How can we find a way into their world and learn to listen before it's too late?
