The Womanosphere: Lessons in Hate

New words describe new phenomena. The term “manosphere” refers to an online movement of young men who, under the guise of common sense, authenticity, and normality, promote far-right ideas. Similar logic, however, can also be found in the female online world. Influencers, mothers, and bloggers talk about family, beauty, or care, but between the lines they’re spreading fear, hierarchy, and exclusion. Social networks and their algorithms then help to spread these ideas discreetly but effectively. How do extremist ideas mask themselves with the language and aesthetics of empathy, care, and tradition in order to appeal to the masses?
