synopsis
Long phone calls from a city that became an entry gate for migrants on the border of Asia and Europe. One-way communication shows how people feel when they leave their family far behind. Vivid Istanbul, pulsing phone centers, and three men from Senegal. The men who came to find a better life that is slow to come.
biography
Turkish directors Hind Benchekroun (1973) and Sami Mermer (1974) have co-directed Turtles Do Not Die of Old Age (2012). Both are documentary filmmakers of international renown. Benchekroun’s debut was called Taxi Casablanca (2008), Mermer made a documentary sci-fi The Box of Lanzo (2005).
