synopsis
This short film from the Czech Photo series deals with the question of what makes a person willing to bear witness with a camera from a place where he himself finds his life endangered. The backbone of this film is a paintball game at a thematic summer camp where children spend time in a stylised military environment. The games are attended by war photographers, who document the specifics of working in a place where not only the lives of the participants are in danger, but those of the reporters as well. The stories of Antonín Kratochvíl, Michal Novotný, and Jan Šibík are accompanied by the observations of Tereza Hurychová, a nurse who has been present at a number of conflicts during missions with Doctors Without Frontiers.
