Food and Epoch – Martin Franc's Show

Food and Epoch – Martin Franc's Show

120 min.

synopsis

The main theme of Martin France's Show is the visual history of cooking shows in the Czechoslovakia. The screening will feature programs such as Řekni mi, co jíš or Veselé umění kuchařské, hosted by Miroslav Horníček and Lubomír Lipský, the legendary advertising program Vaří šéfkuchař, which featured the biggest culinary stars of the 1960s, such as the queen of Czech chanson Hana Hegerová, and the Brno television show from the late 1980s Hádej, kdo přijde na večeři, where Vladimír Dvořák, Jiřina Bohdalová, and Eva Pilarová demonstrated their culinary skills. All this is interspersed with several period advertisements. Finally, we will shift to a slightly more serious tone and show the difficult fates of one of the personalities who saved the continuity of quality gastronomy from the period before 1948.

The Food and Epoch section is presented by doc. PhDr. Martin Franc, Ph.D., from the Masaryk Institute and Archive of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
