We Are Without
An unknown entity wanders through a constructed reality to the brink of nothingness - a town in the fog. The film evokes the shadows of a grainy black-and-white dystopian landscape, from which, however, we can see mere fragments, intertwined with shots of the details of male hands. Ramir’s films are characterized by his unique style, achieved through the use of special lens filters.    “We Are Without is a visual response to life, death and self-deception.” S.J. Ramir

tracked
An experimental film that combines black-and-white shots of a road with shots of bicycles, manipulated into abstract collages, supplemented by a musical backdrop that is as dynamic as video-tracks of the ride. By combining both, it creates an intense physicality that acts on the viewer’s senses. "With the very first sound, I decided where the video should go - to the limits of acceleration, the centrifugal force that is geometrically enclosed after a first release, unleashed and unlimited." S. Cho

Baroque Femina (Nr.7-11)
Documentary footage, Hollywood cinema and video games collide, overlap and submerge into each other in a Dadaist collage inspired by the poetry of Hungarian poet Mário Z. Nemes. The hypermedia nature of the present is emphasised by fragments that are free of a clear narrative backbone.

Against the background of biological diversity, which stands for a commentary from the perspective of history and culture, it introduces the issue of ownership of forests, conceivably by those who inhabit them. Digital Landscaping
A possible reconstruction of urban design and the process of planning the construction of skyscrapers – the kind of building that dominates both administrative and residential areas of Seoul. The imaginary planning process depicted here offers a critical commentary on the overcrowded metropolitan neighborhoods and the harsh scenery obscured by skyscrapers, which have become a normal everyday space.DETAIL:Tall buildings appear in the scene seemingly at random, their proximity emphasized by animation that takes place on something like a playing field.

Aula Magna (16mm)
A report on about a inner important place, presented in a classically structured format. The images were captured over the course of one year frame by frame, the main room of the artist’s flat was captured in both sound and image, although it was primarily the changes in light that were documented. The pace of observation was further smoothed during the process of enlarging from 8 to 16 mm, during which each frame was duplicated twice. DETAIL:The window as a point of distorting the closure of a space, as a passage from concentrated encirclement to private solitude.

We Still Have to Close Our Eyes
A compilation of behind-the-scenes footage shot while filming various Filipino films, including those of Lav Diaz and Erik Matti, creates a sense of quiet tension. In the style of slow narrations and in-depth observation, the film builds a dystopian sci-fi narrative of human avatars controlled by applications but is also a commentary on the various forms of contemporary Filipino cinema.    “They say once a filmmaker becomes a parent, that person stops making films. The Remote Daddy Framework is a way for me to go out of the house to document in spurts of three hours to repurpose and make" J. Torres

FilmMAGIC engages in an ironic game with the viewer’s faith in the chronological coherence of an apparently realistic scene, surprising us with repeated loops of one shot that thus become an illusionary representation of the passing of the months. Time-lapse photography allows for unexpected leaps or makes it possible to persevere through the ups and downs of life.
