synopsis
A crew of enthusiasts sets out in a monoxyl, a vessel carved from a tree trunk, on a journey across the Aegean Sea. Their goal is to verify how the first farmers could have traveled from Asia Minor to Europe 9,000 years ago. The documentary reveals new facts about ancient European history.
biography
Tomáš Kratochvíl, a graduate of the Faculty of Humanities, spent just one year at the FAMU editing department. He worked on the film
Hives (2012), which is the result of collaboration between five European film schools. However, he made his mark with the documentary
Gadžo (2014), which was the author's film diary about his stay among the Roma in the excluded locality of Předlice. The film was initially created as an independent project, but eventually became part of the
Český žurnál series. The film
Češi proti Čechům (Czechs Against Czechs) can be considered its loose sequel.
