Official spot of the 25th Ji.hlava IDFF

The official spot of the 25th Ji.hlava IDFF has been designed by the poet and filmmaker Khavn, who thanks to his desire to trespass the borders of film expression, belongs among the most prominent personalities of Philippine cinema. His work was presented in the section Translucent Being at Ji.hlava 2006. “Khavn is a prominent figure on the contemporary independent scene in the Philippines, and the Ji.hlava IDFF has been following his predominantly provocative and surprising work for fifteen years. Khavn himself has also been collaborating with Ji.hlava: he is currently leading the Ji.hlava Academy workshop for emerging filmmakers, and has been among of the jurors and authors of the festival diary," says Marek Hovorka, the director of the festival, commenting the choice. RAIN OF STONES it’s raining stones you won’t notice at first not small grains of beautiful blinding sand rocks the size of fists that break skulls the young have been left by the old take care of your own life and let it be brief kingdoms of dust marked by dog piss thou shalt not cross or you die stones don’t know the names of saints the hardest head is the hardest hit shards from bottles of sweet beer difficult to run with just one foot rusty blades sharpened to fit your hungry guts isn’t it ironic the stranger who helped you earlier just killed your friend

Press release: Six days, three hundred films, back in cinema!

Ji.hlava IDFF 2021 preview: Short Joy for free on DAFilms

Ji.hlava IDFF won’t officially kick off its online festivities until 26 October, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get an early taste of what’s to come! Starting on 11 October, viewers can tune into this year’s selection of films for the festival’s Short Joy section. All 25 nominated documentary shorts listed as a world or international premiere will be available to watch for free on DAFilms. And just like last year, you can vote for your favourite film at dafilms.com up until 24 October. The winner of the DAFilms Audience Award will be announced at the opening ceremony of the festival on 26 October. The only official award in this section is accompanied by online distribution and promotion at DAFilms valued at €3,000 EUR. What’s more, all those who vote will automatically be entered into a raffle to win an annual subscription to DAFilms.
