synopsis
The creative commotion and noise in the halls of residence at the Academy of Performing Arts makes it difficult for students to carry out a fundamental activity – studying. The film takes this initial situation and develops it into a series of humorous and absurd scenes. At the time this short film was made, it caught the public’s attention with its fresh and playful narrative style, the obvious joy of filming, as well as its use of jazz music.
biography
Georgis Skalenakis (1926–2014) studied film directing in Prague as a Greek-Egyptian student. He appeared in minor roles in FAMU films and made his debut in the feature film Pražské blues (
Prague Blues, 1963). In the mid-1960s, he moved to Greece, established himself in the local film industry and, amongst other things, taught for many years at a film school in Athens.
