I’ve been piecing my life back together for a few years now. Why am I doing this? Because I realized I can’t live like this anymore. I can’t keep pretending that it didn’t happen. I thought I’d find a way to forget. My fear is still there. But I know I don’t have to be afraid anymore. I’m no longer a victim, I’m neither my past nor my mistakes. I want to be able to rely on and trust myself. I’ve escaped all the insane situations and have become a better person for it. (the author’s text)
