synopsis

This film is a mother-daughter collaboration. It captures the feelings, problems and the world of a child with learning difficulties that pigeonhole her into a category of students who need an individualized education plan (IEP). How to deal with the school system when you have a pixie inside your head?

biography

Lucie Vrtalová works as an elementary school teaching assistant and runs a local library. Received a degree from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. For many years, Lucie was a theater costume designer. She also works with kids in book clubs and is involved in child and adult education. A mother of two children, one of whom is the co-creator of the film Karolína.

Karolína Vrtalová is a 14-year-old eighth-grade student with an individualized education plan. Her many creative outlets include animation and playing the ukulele.
