I Hope You Fall in Love

synopsis

Director Ariel Feldman made his feature-length debut with his arm in a plaster cast and a broken heart. This chronicle of his own love life consists of interviews with former partners, as well as his parents and close friends. Taking stock leads him to reflect on the nature of romantic love in the current era of freer, yet also more volatile, relationships. Archive footage from romantic holidays alternates with shots of his current solitary wanderings around his flat, walking the dog, and even editing the film itself. This intimate, introspective film is built around spontaneously shot footage, utilising grainy film stock and a handheld digital camera.

biography

Ariel Feldman studied philosophy and has been working as a cinematographer since 2015. So far, he has focused solely on directing short films, such as Aguafuertes (2019) and Con lo puesto (2022). He also contributed to the video essay Irreconciliable (2019), which was screened at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
